A White Linen Tablecloth: A Summer Moment of Stillness
On a sweltering summer day, rushing home after an errand in downtown Rome, I turned a corner down a cobblestone alley and caught my breath at the sight: a small table set against an ancient brick wall, its white linen cloth lifting gently in the breeze.
A lone table, filled with potential.
I love stumbling upon these quiet moments, moments that remind me to breathe and slow down.
So simple.
In that moment I allowed myself to feel; to simply feel into a moment of sudden spaciousness. It was a moment of reprieve, and felt as if I had just remembered something, or – more so – entirely forgotten something, like a memory I no longer needed.
Feeling refreshed, I walked away with a list of simple summer pleasures growing in my mind.
