Gathering Words
Finally Give Your Scattered Words a Home
Turn years of “someday I'll write” into a week of
actually writing.
You have notebooks with half-finished thoughts.
Notes scattered across your phone. Old journals filled with pieces of your story. And that nagging feeling that you're meant to be writing... but you don't know where to start.
Every time you sit down to write, the blank page stares back at you.
So you put down the pen. Close the laptop. And tell yourself "maybe tomorrow."
But tomorrow becomes next week, and next week becomes next month… and your words stay hidden.
Your stories remain frozen, your voice silent, and that deep calling to write gets quieter and quieter.
What if the scattered pieces are exactly where you need to start?
For years I carried around an old leather journal. I'd write a paragraph here, jot down an idea there, but nothing ever felt “interesting enough” to shape further or "worthy" of sharing with others. Still, I kept writing little bits here and there.
I had preconceived notions of what a writer was, imagining prerequisites that I felt were beyond me. I thought I needed to have polished pieces ready for publication before I could call myself a writer.
But when I started to gather the writing I already had—those fragments, those scattered thoughts, those stray notes in that old journal— a simple truth was revealed to me.
I discovered that I was, in fact, a writer! I was already a writer because I was writing!
I didn't need to be more this or be more that to be a writer. I just needed to honor the words I had already written. And I needed to keep going. Simple.
Eventually my scattered pieces started BECOMING something.
Instead of starting with a blank page, I started with the words I already had.
Perhaps your words are waiting for you to gently gather them?
